Introduction

Welcome to the Kelley Supply, Inc. web site. This tutorial will provide an overview of how to use the site and what you will encounter.

Use of this site enables you to view our product lines and easily place orders and quote requests to Kelley Supply via the Internet. By browsing through the site and selecting items to add to your shopping cart, you can effortlessly assemble an order …it's as easy as 1-2-3!


Monitor Settings

For optimal presentation, we recommend your computer be set to a resolution of 800 x 600, and in 24-bit true color mode if available. To view or change your settings go to the Windows START menu, then SETTINGS, and then CONTROL PANEL. Double click on "Display" and then go to the "Settings" file. This screen indicates what color mode and resolution your computer's monitor is set at.


Logging In - Visitors and Current Customers

Before you are able to view the diverse line of products that Kelley Supply offers your company must have a "Customer Login" username and password. You can also register as a visitor and use your e-mail address to login thereafter. After entering this information, you will be asked to identify yourself or add yourself as a customer contact, unless you have been pre-registered. This procedure assists in tracking who within your company has placed orders or viewed the site.


The Interface

In general, the top portion of the Kelley web site will stay the same. You will always have access to major category links, enabling you to quickly move from one section to another. As the cursor passes over the icons at the top of the window, they will balloon indicating that it will become active when selected. Click on an icon to advance to that section. In the upper center of the screen is a Contact Us link. Clicking on this link will launch your email program and open a new message pre-addressed to Kelley Supply. This allows you to contact us through email at any time during the use of the site.

Shows the Latest News, Promotions/Specials, Login Information, Link of the Week, Calendar of Events, How to Use This Site information, and includes a section to allow for Comments/Suggestions.

What's New
A list of new product offerings, featured products and specials with links to our catalog which allows you the ability to order that product, obtain a quote, or email product requests if you are unable to locate something within our catalog.

New Customer
A User License Agreement, followed by registration form to acquire pertinent sales data including company name, federal tax ID numbers, preferred payment method, credit references etc.

Profile
A section detailing company history and values, with links to a customer service statement, ordering information and policies, and our payment terms and conditions.

Catalog
Our complete product line of over 12,500 products to choose from with the ability to add items to your shopping cart. Certain product pages have links to product comparison charts or specification sheets to aid in determining which product is right for your needs.

Using the Catalog

The Catalog and Shopping Cart sections of the site work together to enable you to effortlessly place orders with Kelley Supply.

To open the Catalog, click on the Catalog icon in the upper right portion of the window. You will be presented with a display of Kelley's product categories as well as "Inventory Overstock Sale" Items when available. There are over 20 major product categories within the online catalog, many of which have nested categories within them, up to four levels. After you select a category, you'll be provided with any subcategories when applicable. To view the contents of a particular item, simply "drill down" to the item and click the underlined link from the available.

Specific product information is listed in the final table, including a representative image (when available), Item Number, Description, Size, Quantity, and UOM (unit of measure). There is also additional narrative, which contains general product information, located next to the photo. Items can be placed into your shopping cart to start an order by inserting the desired quantity in the "Order" text box provided. Click "Add to Order Form" to add the item to your order, and you will be presented with a running tally of your current session. You can continue to browse through categories and add product selections from any category or view the contents of your shopping cart at any time by clicking on the Shopping Cart icon in the upper right section of your screen. Along the bottom of the window are links to help you navigate or find additional technical data or specials. If there is special information available for a product, the button will list a special description.


Searching

One of the most-powerful features of the Kelley Supply Online Catalog Web Site is its ability to find particular products for you quickly through its searching capability. To perform a search of the site for a particular item, click the "Search" icon located in the upper middle of your screen. Once you clicked on the "Search" icon, a box will appear where you can define the search category by selecting the appropriate fields. (At the first level product listing, this search box is always located at the lower right-hand side of the page). You can search by Item Number, Product Description, and Product Name. The Item Number search includes both Kelley item numbers, as well as any customer item numbers (SKU's) which have been saved through a logged customers account purchase history screen. If the Product Description search is requested, the program will search our product narratives for the words you have selected in the search feature. The Product Name search feature, scans our part description for the words selected. An additional part of the search feature is the ability to search for Any Words, All Words, or Exact Words. The Any Words is best used if you are only searching for one word, or if you want a much wider group of products found. As a general rule of thumb, if more than one word is indicated to search for, the criteria "All Words" will narrow your field of products found. Once you have made your search selections, click on the "Find Products" button. The screen will populate with responses that fit the search criteria. If there is a full list of responses, click the down arrow of the scroll bar on the right of the screen to view the remaining responses.

Click on any response listed. The screen will return to the product catalog. All products matching the criteria provided will be displayed on the left side of your window, and any current product specials containing your search criteria will appear on the right side of your screen. If your search criteria yield no results, the search screen will be displayed in the lower right of your screen, containing a message that no products were found.


Customer Purchase History

If you would like to view a 12 month plus current month history of all products purchased through Kelley Supply, login with your customer id and password then click on the link Purchase History located at the top right hand side of the screen. The Kelley item number, customer item number (SKU's) if applicable, description, size, unit, weight and last purchase price is displayed.

You have the ability to view records in groups of ten or all at once. If you view in groups of ten, you will need to save prior to proceeding to the next page or your quantity information will be lost.

Customer's part numbers/SKU numbers can be added or updated and items can be added to the shopping cart. All Part Numbers (SKU's) can be entered at once and saved simply by inputting the numbers and selecting the 'save product reference number changes' button located on the bottom of the page. If All Records are displayed, you can go to the bottom of the document and save. If items are viewed by groups of ten, then the numbers must be saved on each page. They can also be saved separately next to the part number by clicking on the link, save product reference numbers. SKU numbers should be entered and saved prior to entering item quantities. Customer part numbers will appear on all customer paperwork at Kelley, such as picking tickets, invoices, etc.

Items can be added to the shopping cart from the Purchase History simply by entering the amounts and clicking on the button 'add items to your shopping cart'. If records are displayed by groups of ten, each page needs to be saved separately. Items can also be added to the cart by pressing 'enter' after the amount.


The Shopping Cart

Click on the Shopping cart icon to view the item quantities you have selected and process your selections in the following possibilities:

Save Order/Quote
This option leads you to a screen that allows you to assign a name to your current ordering session. Many customers use an assigned purchase order number, or a name that conveys content of the order. We programmed this feature to speed up the process of recurring orders of the same items. For example, if you order the same products on a monthly basis, simply name the order "Monthly Order" and it will be remembered for you. Quotes can also be saved in this area. Simply identify the order as a quote. This will give you the ability to pull up a previous quote and process it as a new order.

Update Order
This option allows you to refresh the content of your shopping cart after you have chosen to delete any of the selections you've chosen. Simply click on the appropriate box within the "Remove" column for the product you wish to remove, and select "Update Order". You may also change quantities of items in your shopping cart. Simply highlight the quantity to be changed and type in your new quantity, then select "Update Order".

Quote Request
If you wish to receive a quote, rather than submit your order online, simply finalize your shopping cart and select quote request. You are then provided with a screen that allows you to enter additional information pertinent to this quote request such as monthly usage, current vendor or special delivery requirements. Kelley Supply will process your quote request and either mail or fax the desired information back to you in a timely manner.

Process Order
This option directs you to a self-explanatory information-gathering screen with all your company and contact data automatically entered. Required fields are denoted, and provisions are made for you to:

  • Enter desired delivery dates

  • Select your preferred method of payment

  • Enter order comments


  • You will receive a web confirmation within minutes of sending your order. Additionally, an order acknowledgement will be sent to you within 24 hours showing you the total cost of your order.

    It is recommended that your order be placed by 10 am 1 day prior to your scheduled day of delivery.


    Previous Orders/Quotes

    Whether you currently have items in your shopping cart or not and would like to load a saved order into it as well, click on the Admin link near the top right-hand side of the page. Select the View link located underneath Saved Orders. All saved orders will display. Select the saved order or quote desired. This allows you to view the items on the order/quote. It then gives you the option to "Add this Order to Order", or to delete the order. Items can then be edited in the cart, saved and processed as an order or quote.

    It is a good idea to periodically go through your saved orders and quotes and delete unwanted information.


    Kelley Supply Customer Administration

    This area allows you to administer your account information.

    Contacts and Ship to Locations:
    Ability to Add, Edit, or Delete contact names and ship to Locations. There is no limit to the amount of contacts or ship to locations you have.

    Company Information:
    Ability to update account name, address, phone, etc.

    Saved Orders/ Quotes:
    Ability to view and/or load previously saved orders or quotes.
